This project took heavy inspiration from the aesthetics of cybersigilism and cyberpunk. In Genshin Impact, Il Dottore is a doctor, so I compiled a mood board for inspiration ranging from medical documentation and cyber security. Majority of this project involved sourcing imagery from the game and aesthetics to help make the design cohesive. The off-white, blue, green, and cyan were colors chosen from the character’s color palette.
As for motion graphics, this needed to be ‘busy’ and have multiple components moving simultaneously. I tried to include a range of monitor diagnostics: bar graphs, pop-ups, written text and code, etc. The motion graphics should be visually pleasing to the eye and draw its attention. Additionally, the glitch effect was done through following a tutorial and edited towards what felt most realistic. Animating with after effects took around 9-10 hours over the course of three days.
OMEGA CPU Diagnostic Screen
I went through 3-4 variations of the diagnostics page, but this was the final one. It should feel full and ‘always working’ with moving parts.
Fail Safe Pop-up
Red was a natural opposite to green and yellow, and provides a sense of danger/urgency. Sharp angles help it feel threatening.
