“ When Glo moves to downtown New Orleans, her life takes a supernatural turn. It’s not easy being a half-orc, half satyr in an all human family, and it’s definitely not easier when you’re a foster kid to boot. Glo will have to navigate her foster family and being the new monster on the block as she enters this extra-ordinary new world! ” - Glo and the Extra-Ordinary World synopsis
color palette and secondary elements
Glo and the Extra-Ordinary World is a lengthy novel title. With five words, one being hyphenated in a grammatically incorrect manner, it’s no wonder this title is a mouthful. I am immovable about shortening or changing it. The ‘Extra-Ordinary’ is designed so people emphasize the word within their head, and while saying it aloud. To audiences, it should feel off or wrong, causing them to pause when reading it.
To readers, Glo’s world can be described as ‘extraordinary’ with the magic and monsters; however, from Glo’s perspective, the world around her is simply extra ordinary. I wanted to play on the word extraordinary, in how Glo comes to find the world around her is ordinary. Magic and witchcraft is the norm, so it doesn’t feel out of place, but it’s the city of New Orleans that feels new to her.
